The Single Pitch Award (SPA) is ideal for anyone with personal climbing experience who has led at least 15 traditional climbs on leader placed protection at grade Severe level, who is involved with schools, outdoor centres, youth groups or acts as a leader for groups of novices.

The Single Pitch Award (SPA) will give you the skills you need to supervise groups of novice climbers in potentially hazardous environments.

The Single Pitch Award (SPA) provides training and assessment on how to organise and supervise safe, effective and enjoyable sessions on single pitch crags both inside and outdoors.

Before attending the Single Pitch Award (SPA) assessment, candidates should be aware of the syllabus in the back of their logbooks. If in doubt contact me using the contact details below.

Before attending a Single Pitch Award (SPA) Training course candidates must be at least 18 years old, have at least 12 months climbing experience and be a member of the British Mountaineering Council.
